Questions

The questions
couples ask us most

Honest answers to the things couples ask most. If yours is not here, just ask.

01How much does a destination wedding cost?

It varies enormously depending on the destination, venue, time of year, guest numbers and what you include. Some couples marry abroad for less than a UK reception; others plan a week-long celebration with a larger budget. Tell us your rough figure and we will be honest about what it can realistically achieve.

02How far in advance should we book?

Twelve to eighteen months is comfortable, particularly for popular venues and peak summer dates. Shorter timelines are often possible, especially in quieter months or with flexible dates , it is always worth asking.

03Can our guests book through JDM?

Yes. Where the arrangement allows, we can help your guests with their travel and accommodation so you are not chasing everyone yourself.

04Can guests pay separately?

In most cases guests can book and pay for their own arrangements. Payment options depend on the supplier and destination, and we will confirm what is available for your specific booking.

05Can we have children at our wedding?

Absolutely. Some resorts are adults-only, others are very family-friendly, and some have both adult and family sections. Tell us how many children are coming and we will shortlist accordingly.

06Can you arrange our flights?

Yes, flights can be arranged for you and, where possible, for your guests , including departures from different UK airports.

07Can you arrange the honeymoon?

Yes. We can continue straight from the wedding, add a few days elsewhere, or plan a completely separate trip later in the year.

08Can we visit the venue before booking?

Many couples do a pre-wedding visit, and we can help arrange the trip. Some venues also offer virtual tours and detailed planning calls if a visit is not practical.

09What happens if some guests travel from different UK airports?

That is very common. We can look at departures from multiple airports and, where possible, line up arrivals so transfers and welcome plans still work smoothly.

10Can you arrange large wedding groups?

Yes. Group travel is one of the main reasons couples come to us , coordinating rooms, flights and transfers for a large party is exactly the part most couples do not want to manage alone.

11What documents are required to marry abroad?

Document requirements differ by destination and can change. They typically involve passports, birth certificates and paperwork confirming you are free to marry, sometimes translated or legalised. We will point you towards what is usually needed, but you should always check the current official requirements for your chosen country before booking.

12Is a wedding abroad legally recognised in the UK?

Many overseas marriages are recognised in the UK when the ceremony is carried out legally under the laws of that country, but requirements differ by destination and individual circumstances. Please check the relevant official guidance for the country you are marrying in, and seek independent confirmation where you need certainty. Some couples choose a legal formality at home and a symbolic ceremony abroad.

Legal or symbolic?A legal ceremony abroad makes you married under that country’s law. A symbolic ceremony has all the romance without the paperwork, and many couples then complete a short legal formality in the UK. Requirements vary and can change, so always check current official guidance for your destination, including GOV.UK’s guidance on getting married abroad, before booking.
